JOB SUMMARY:  Provide nursing services, specific resident care, laundry, dietary and housekeeping services, and activities to the residents as directed by the Personal Care Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:  High school graduate or equivalent required, one step Mantoux and criminal clearances, willingness to obtain CPR and First Aid training, desire to work with the geriatric resident.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• At the beginning of each shift, receive report pertinent to the daily assignment.
• Assist residents with bathing, dressing, feeding, oral hygiene, shaving, nail care.
• Change bed linens and light housekeeping duties to maintain a level of cleanliness.
• Assist in planning and leading variety of group activities and ensuring the required supplies are available.
• Distribute daily newspapers and mail.
• Assist in the set-up and clean-up of all meal service.  Assist in escorting and serving residents during meals.
• Report any pertinent information regarding any change in the mental or physical condition to the PC Director and physician.
• As directed by the PC Director, monitor medications, specimen collections, intake, and output observation, and record vital signs and weight.
• Knowledge of the use of blood pressure devices, weight scales, coffee machine, fax machine, and copier.
• Compliance with monthly Staff education required by DPW.
• Maintain working knowledge of established sanitary and infection control policies and procedures.
• In absence of Director of Resident Care, give tours of PC to prospective residents and their families, and record such interactions in PC log.
• Work irregular hours or stay past scheduled hours in the event of an emergency.
• Any additional assigned duties that are given by the PC Director.
